IELTS Writing for best IELTS preparation in Amritsar
IELTS writing has two different versions for the two types of IELTS test viz. IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. The subject matter of writing for IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training is different. We, at IELTS Coaching Amritsar, coach students who want to study abroad or work abroad, in both the modules of writing.
IELTS Academic Writing
IELTS Academic writing generally involves two tasks.
First type of task in academic writing is to describe some visual information. The visual information may be provided in a graph, a table, a chart, or a diagram. The candidates must describe the information in their own words. The description should be written in an academic or semi-formal style. It must include the most important and the most relevant points given in the diagram. Some minor points or details may be left out.Our trainers help the candidates develop this skill to identify the most important points in a diagram graph or a process flow. Then they train them in writing an original text because plagiarism is not accepted in IELTS exam and the candidate resorting to plagiarism is penalized. This impacts the band score of the candidate. We have prepared study material which, if practiced well by the candidates, helps them to score a high band score in IELTS writing. The trainers provide a number of questions which help them develop good writing skills. It makes IELTS Coaching Center Amritsar one of the most sought after IELTS Coaching institute in Amritsar.
Second type of task in academic writing is to respond to an argument or a point of view or a problem. There is no standard way of writing this section. Answers in this section should be written keeping in mind the relevance and coherence.Test candidates must make sure that they read the task carefully and provide a relevant response to the question. For instance, if the topic is a particular aspect of social media, they should focus on that particular aspect of social media in their response. They should not write a general essay or article on social media. They are supposed to be relevant to the topic. The candidates are penalized for writing irrelevant answers. That is where the role our expert faculty comes. They make the students write on a variety of topics and provide critical feedback, keeping in mind the IELTS assessment pattern.
It must be remembered that writing in bullet points are not acceptable as answers and the candidate must write a full paragraph within the word limit of 150 words or 250 words, as suggested in the IELTS question paper.
IELTS General Training Writing
IELTS General Training writing generally also involves two tasks.
First type of task in General Training writing is to respond to a situation, for instance, by writing a letter requesting information or explaining a situation. The objective of the task is to assess the ability of the candidates to use correct and appropriate language; follow English letter-writing conventions;and to organise and combine information coherently and cohesively. The candidates are provided with a situation and they are required to write a personal response in the form of a formal, semi-formal or informal letter in the answer booklet provided. In the general training writing, the writing level is not so rigorous as in case of academic writing. The candidates are supposed to write about everyday situations such as: writing to a new employer about time management issues they are facing, writing to a college accommodation officer about problems faced in accommodation, writing to the editor of a local newspaper regarding a plan to develop a local airport in the city, writing to a renting agency to resolve problems with the water supply or heating system in the house. Our trainers train the candidates in choosing an appropriate style of writing, which depends on who they are supposed to write. In other words, who is the audience would decide whether to write formal / semi-formal letter or informal letter. There are more nuances which are specific to IELTS writing. If you were good at letter writing in school would be helpful, but there is more to know to score a good band score in IELTS.
Second type of task in General Training writing is to write an essay in response to a point of view, argument or problem. The objective of the task is to assess the ability of the candidates to use accurate and appropriate language, follow English discursive writing conventions (i.e. order of information, writing style, appropriate start and finish of discursive writing, forming paragraphs), and to organise and link information cohesively and coherently.Clear instructions are provided to the candidates as to what they are supposed to do. The answers have to be precise and relevant and that’s where our teachers help candidates learn these skills in the class teach at the IELTS Coaching Center Gurgaon. The faculty train the candidates on how to deal with different types of information such as point of view, argument or problem. The students learn how to provide general factual information, outline a solution, justify an opinion, and evaluate evidences and ideas.Topics for this task are of general interest such as ‘why joint family systems have broken and how families be brought closer in present context’, should the leisure activities of children be educational, how to solve the environmental problems, should smoking be banned in public places, who should bear the expenses of elderly people, etc.
